Ocotea    (Oak-a-tai)
Ocotea essential oil is extracted from the steam and leaves of the ocotea tree in Ecuador and is related to the cinnamon species.
Ocotea is wild crafted and distilled at Finca Botánica Aromática, Young Living’s farm and distillery in Ecuador. Ocotea is harvested from a large tree found in the Amazon Basin of Ecuador, from sea level up to 1,500 meters in altitude. The trees are divided into male and female trees, with only the female trees producing foliage suitable for distillation into essential oils. Historical usage of ocotea dates back more than 500 years, when it was used to aromatize sweets and cakes.

This essential oil has an aroma that is different from any common cinnamon.  Ocotea has the highest level of alpha-humulene of any essential oil. Alpha-humulene
can balance the body's internal response to irritation.
Only copaiba essential oil has comparable levels of this natural plant compound.  It also contains Eucalyptol which works on the lungs.
Powerful anti-inflammatory, reduces swelling, Candida. e-coli.* and balances blood sugar levels - helping with diabetes and hypoglycemia
Benefits:
  • Traditionally used as a disinfectant and for digestive support.
  • Highest levels of alpha-humulene in any known essential oil, which helps balance the body's internal response to irritation  and inflammation.
  • Far less skin sensitivity than cinnamon bark or cassia
  • Balances blood sugar levels

Lowers glucose levels: 1-3 drops under tongue caused the glucose level to go from 120 – 90 in less than ten minutes.

Copaiba Tree

Young Living sourcing specialists have traveled the world  sampling different copaiba essential oil samples.  Each batch was put through state-of-art Gas Chromatrograph and Mass Spectrometer test.
Gary Young selected species of Copaifera from South America to maximize levels of beta caryophyllene, the key active ingredient in the essential oil.

Copaiba is a type of Copal, and is the only essential oil which is not steam distilled – it’s a liquid resin tapped sustainably from the heartwood of the tree.

Young Living’s exclusive oil sourced in Brazil, boasts a rich hisotry of over 800 years of use in folk medicine. Traditional uses have been for  providing relief from joint issues (arthritis),  stomach aches & digestive problems among other uses. Local pharmacists mention uses for gastritis, fibromyalgia and arthritis.

It’s safe for ingestion – it’s a legal food additive in the USA.  Copaiba  is excellent for gastric protection (protects from stomach ulcers), and can be used for colitis.  From 1820 – 1910 it was listed as part of the U.S. Pharmacopea.

It is one of the most powerful essential oils studied for inflammation – twice as strong as wintergreen, yet ever so gentle on the skin! In a peer review paper in France, Copaiba was listed as the second most powerful oil against inflammation (second only to Myrrh resin).

Benefits:
  • Traditionally used to aid common digestive discomforts when taken internally.*
  • Used historically to help the body regulate its natural immune responses.*
